COCO CHANEL.

I chose to do a blog on Coco Chanel because i am a big fan of her fashion label. I adore the clothes, jewellery and perfume. Not only that but I think she is an inspiration to women and fashion. Her famous quotes are inspiring and I truly look up to her and follow her elegant style. I also wanted to be able to learn more about her and where she comes from in the process.
"Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening."
From the beginning
Sharing a birthday with myself, Chanel was born on the 19th August 1883. She was born into a beautiful small town in France called Saumur.
When Chanel was only twelve years of age her mother died of Tuberculosis and her father then left her, her two sisters and tree brothers. After that she spent six years in an orphanage of the Roman Catholic monastery of Aubazine, where she began to learn the trade of a seamstress. When she turned eighteen she left the Orphanage and took off to the town of Moulins to become a cabaret singer. It was performing in places like Moulins that she developed the nickname "coco".

Chanel soon gave up on her singing career after she meet a wealthy textile heir named Balsan in Moulins. She soon enough became known has his mistress. While living with him she got a day job in a tailoring shop, where she found her love for hat making and quickly discovered her passion for fashion. Later she left Balsan and then took over his apartment in Paris.
In 1909 Chanel fell in love with a friend of Balsan’s named Arthur Edward. He financed her shop and they worked together in the fashion business until he died in an auto accident in 1919 leaving chanel heart broken.
Chanel stuck to her love of hat making and then began to make casual clothes for ladies and opened her own shop called Chanel-Biarritz.
Coco The latter years

Coco dated some of the most influential men of her time, but she never married. The reason may be found in her answer, when asked why she did not marry the Duke of Westminster: "There have been several Duchesses of Westminster. There is only one Chanel."
